"In Paradisum" by Gabriel Fauré, arranged for organ by Marcel Dupré
Joann Richardson, Organist
This performance took place in Portland, Oregon at the combined state conference of the Washington State and Oregon Music Teachers Associations.
The musical selection was chosen to demonstrate advanced pedal technique. The melody is played by the feet in the upper register of the pedalboard using a 2'
flute stop that has been coupled down to the pedals. The accompaniment is played by the hands.
One of my students spent two weeks in Thailand during the summer between her junior and senior years of high school. On her last night in Thailand, she went
to a jazz night at her hotel. When the band wanted to take a break, they asked my student to play the piano. Someone was kind enough to video-record this very special
performance. Here is her performance of "Arabesque Number One" by Claude Debussy.
